Hello again Hustlers!
It’s been a while since I have written an article and to be honest I became completely burned out. I was battling with thoughts of doubt and started to feel like my blog didn’t matter. I was struggling and lost sight of my purpose. I lost complete motivation and was practically convinced that I should just give up.
Why is staying motivated so hard? It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed by the long list of daily tasks appointments and must do’s. As a mom, wife, full time employee, and business owner, finding time and motivation to write blog posts can be a daunting task and just seem downright impossible. Juggling multiple roles and responsibilities can easily lead to burnout and a lack of inspiration.
So, what’s the difference between feeling burned out versus feeling motivated?
The difference is defining your purpose.
Defining your purpose is key because it becomes your motivator, your focus, and your driver. Your purpose gets you through the busy days, giving you the motivation to keep going. Once I defined my purpose everything began to change. I felt the motivation to keep going after a long day, and to stay committed to my blog and to my goals.
Here are the steps I have followed to reset my mind, and to recommit to myself and stay motivated.
Define your purpose
To stay motivated, it’s crucial to have a clear understanding of why you started blogging in the first place. Reflect on your passions, interests, and goals, and remind yourself of the value your blog brings to your readers and yourself. By keeping your purpose in mind, you can stay motivated even during challenging times.
Set realistic goals
Setting achievable and realistic goals is essential when you have a busy schedule. Break down your larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks. By focusing on one step at a time, you can make progress without feeling overwhelmed. Celebrate each milestone, no matter how small, as it will keep you motivated to continue.
Create a schedule
Time management is key when you wear multiple hats. Establish a consistent blogging schedule that aligns with your commitments (it’s doable-I promise!). Identify the most productive times of day for you and allocate them for writing. By making blogging a regular part of your routine, it becomes easier to stay motivated and maintain momentum. But remember, stay flexible! Life loves to laugh at your schedule, so if you miss the time you originally set aside, it’s OK! Stay committed and try and schedule your makeup time as soon as possible.
Stay organized
Organizational skills are crucial for any busy Blogger. Keep a journal or use digital tools or notebooks to plan and track your blog topics, ideas, and deadlines. Break your writing process into smaller tasks, such as research, outlining, and editing. By staying organized, you can tackle each task more efficiently, saving time and reducing stress. One of my favorite tools is Microsoft OneNote. I added Microsoft OneNote to my phone and now I can easily add ideas for new blog articles as soon as they come to mind and start researching them immediately.
Find your inspiration
As a writer, it’s essential to find inspiration from various sources. Surround yourself with like minded individuals who share your passion for blogging. Join blogging communities, attend conferences, or engage in online forums to connect with fellow bloggers. Reading books, listening to podcasts, and exploring new topics can also help ignite your creativity and motivation. The blog that inspired me to create my own is making sense of cents, check it out!
Seek support
Don’t hesitate to ask for help or delegate tasks. Discuss your responsibilities with your family, friends, or colleagues, and explain the importance of your blogging journey. Their support and understanding can help create a supportive environment that allows you to pursue your passion without feeling guilty or overwhelmed.
Practice self-care
Taking care of yourself is vital to maintain motivation and avoid burnout. Prioritize self-care activities such as exercise, meditation, spending quality time with loved ones, or pursuing hobbies unrelated to work. By replenishing your energy and finding balance, you’ll be better equipped to tackle your multiple roles and maintain motivation as a Blogger.
Being a mom, wife, full time employee, and business owner can undoubtedly pose challenges to staying motivated as a Blogger. However, by defining your purpose and recommitting to your goals you can overcome these challenges and continue to thrive in your blogging journey. Remember with perseverance and the right strategies, you can strike a balance and find joy in sharing your thoughts and experiences through your blog.
